LONGEST SUMMER (detail)

Detail taken from LONGEST SUMMER by Anthony Saunders

LONGEST SUMMER
The book and print portfolio

Harvesting is briefly interrupted as Mk.I Spitfires of 609 Squadron pass low overhead. The young pilots return to 10 Group Sector Station at Middle Wallop after successfully engaging Luftwaffe raiders attacking naval facilities on the south coast, August 1940.

This prestigious limited edition portfolio, specially issued to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, includes an individually numbered limited first edition copy of the book THEIR FINEST HOUR.

Presented in its own luxury embossed slipcase, each book is accompanied by a matching-numbered copy of the limited edition print Longest Summer.

LOW PASS OVER THE MÖHNE DAM

Guy Gibson under fire from the defending garrison, powers his Lancaster AJ-G at full throttle over the dam to confirm the extent of the successful breach. Below him, and clearly visible, the bright moonlight reveals the huge rupture in the dam's massive wall as the swirling avalanche of water surges into the valley below. With the subsequent destruction of the Eder Dam, and the damage to the Sorpe Dam, the men of 617 Squadron had achieved what they were asked, and more.

LUCKY JANE

Each print in the edition has been personally signed by artist Anthony Saunders and serves as a fitting tribute to the brave airmen who flew Lancasters with Bomber Command during WWII.

LUCKY JANE - Matted Collector's Edition

MALTA - THE TURNING POINT

Already noted as one of the most gifted aviation artists of his generation, Anthony Saunders depicts a glimpse of events that day in this eye-catching piece. In the foreground Sergeant Paul Brennan of 249 Squadron destroys a Ju87 in some of the fighting over Grand Harbour, Valetta whilst in the background the island's anti-aircraft guns, boosted by a recent and much needed supply of ammunition, put up a huge barrage of flak.
