TOP COVER

Renowned aviation artist Gerald Coulson has reconstructed on canvas a fine interpretation showing B-17 Fortresses under attack during one of the heavy raids during "Big Week", 20-25 February 1944. With their distinctive contrails pointing the way to the target, the B-17s have come under heavy attack by Messerschmitt Me109s of JG11. The 357th FG's top cover P-51 pilots have seen them coming and, with closing speeds approaching 800mph, dived headlong into the determined enemy fighters in an effort to break up the attack.

TORNADO INTERCEPTOR & TORNADO FORCE

Completed in his trademark technique of using a mixture of graphite with subtle colour highlights, Richard pays tribute to this legendary aircraft by depicting two famous variants: TORNADO INTERCEPTOR features an F3, the fighter version and TORNADO FORCE shows GR4s, the multi-role configuration.

TOWARDS NIGHT'S DARKNESS

As the setting sun casts a golden glow, a group of Lancasters from 576 Squadron form up after departing from their Lincolnshire base at the start of a raid into Germany in late 1944. The lead aircraft UL-I (LM227) was one of only a handful of Lancasters to complete 100 operational sorties.

TOWARDS THE HOME FIRES

Destined to become one of Robert's most iconic pieces, it is of great historical significance that Robin Olds has signed part of the edition. The prints are also autographed by pilots that flew alongside him on those arduous missions, giving even greater meaning to this release and creating a remarkable and valuable collector's piece.
